Is a file good to make a knife out of?
A file makes a very good knife with a sharp long lasting edge. But it does take some time. We boys didn’t have a furnace of any kind, so a very hot fire of oak, using a bellows to make it hotter to make the file white hot, then allowing it to stay in fire for several hours as it slowly burnt out and the coals cooled.
