Can you have both a turbo and supercharger?
Yes. You can Use both. The concept of supercharger and Turbocharger are slightly different. If you use only supercharging(without turbo charger) it consumes roughly 3-5% of power develloped by the engine however sp power devloped by the engine and other performance factors like volumetric efficiency etcc increases.
Is it better to turbo or supercharge?
While the turbo’s primary drawback is boost lag, the supercharger’s is efficiency. Because a supercharger uses the engine’s own power to spin itself, it siphons power—more and more of it as engine revs climb. Supercharged engines tend to be less fuel efficient for this reason.
Why did Audi change from supercharger Turbo?
Beyond strong acceleration and refinement, its primary design objective was to be versatile enough for use in nearly any Audi model. After testing twin-turbocharger and supercharged versions, Audi engineers decided on the latter for its better launch performance and compactness.
How much horsepower does a turbo and supercharger add?
A turbocharger works with the exhaust system and can potentially give you gains of 70-150 horsepower. A supercharger is connected directly to the engine intake and could provide an extra 50-100 horsepower.

We have another article for the newer EA211 1.4 TFSi engines. By using a supercharger and a turbo to compress the intake charge you benefit from compounding and significantly more air can be pulled into the engine.
What are the benefits of a supercharger and Turbo?
By using a supercharger and a turbo to compress the intake charge you benefit from compounding and significantly more air can be pulled into the engine. The supercharger minimised the lag you get from a turbo, and two work seamlessly together to provide a very powerful but economical engine, depending on how it’s driven.
Why are twincharged turbos so expensive?
It can feel like two engines, so will reflect your driving mood. The twincharged versions were considered too expensive and complex to produce, partly because of the phenomenal progress made in turbocharger design. Typical stage 1 mods often include: Panel air filter, Lighter flywheel, Remap, Sports exhaust.
Are there any hybrid turbos that can be upgraded?
Turbo upgrades are not bountiful as this is quite a new engine but we are seeing some hybrid turbos, using the OEM housing. Mitsubishi internals and a larger turbine will help top end power. The LO270P from LOBA is another interesting hybrid turbo designed for the CTHG CAVG and CAVE engines but we’ve seen it fitted to others in the range.
