How did Axel become Lea?
He was once Axel, a member of Organization XIII who served as its assassin, until the destruction of both Axel and his Heartless that allowed Lea to be reborn. Since then, Lea has become an ally of Sora and was revealed to be able to wield a Keyblade.
Are Axel and Lea the same person?
It is partly true. They are the same person and at the same time they are not. I agree and I’m pretty sure that the original heart and the new heart of the nobody merge and become one when the person is restored as a human (or somebody), it is the only logical explanation for Axel and normal nobodies.
