What age should you start water polo?
Kids as young as 4 or 5 can start water polo. At first it will look like swimming lessons but soon it will develop into full games and a lot of fun! Water Polo can be taught at very young ages, from 4 or 5. To begin with this is just like swimming lessons but with a ball and goal thrown in for some extra fun.
What is 12U water polo?
The 12U players will focus on long term athlete development, learn the basic water polo skills and further develop their game fundamentals. The 14U players will fine-tune their water skills and fundamentals and work on game tactics. Scrimmages and tournaments are in addition to their regular scheduled practices.
Is it too late to play waterpolo?
You can definitely start playing water polo after the age of 20 but I am afraid it won’t be at a competitive level. I have seen quite a few (varsity level) swimmers make the transition. They are strong, they swim faster than most of the team and they are used to trainning hard.
