How does Sutton Trust work?
We work to improve access to high-quality education and employment opportunities. Our programmes focus on high-attaining students from lower income families. We aim to sustain and innovate our programme portfolio by looking at new avenues for social mobility such as apprenticeships and the use of digital technology.
How many people get into the Sutton Trust us Programme?
Each year, we receive around 1,000 completed applications for 150 places on the programme. We anticipate a similar level of competition this year. If you meet (or mostly meet) the eligibility criteria, we strongly encourage you to apply. If you don’t apply, you definitely will not get a place!

In most cases, our programmes are targeted at students in Year 12 in England and Wales, S5 in Scotland, and Year 13 in Northern Ireland.

Who can apply to the Sutton Trust programme?
The Sutton Trust programmes are for highly able state school or college (non-fee-paying) students only. Applications from students studying at private/independent (fee-paying) schools will not be considered, even if you receive a scholarship or bursary in to cover the fees.
