How old is my Leclerc loom?
Estimated Age: We believe the original was made in 1924 but Leclerc’s oldest loom, appears in the 1937 catalog and all catalogs after that as either the “M-Series” or the “Mira” until it was discontinued in 1986 and later replaced by the Mira II in 2000.

How do you tie a counterbalance loom?
Locate the center point of the first shaft, and tie a cord from the shaft to the first lamm, at its centre. The first shaft is tied to the first lamm, the second shaft is tied to the second lamm, and so on. Repeat for each shaft and lamm. Now you can tie the lamms to the pedals, depending on your peg plan.

What is the difference between the Leclerc Nilus and the Nilus?
Historically, the “Nilus” model loom was the first of the two models to be introduced by Leclerc. It is a 4 shaft jack type loom upgradable to 8 shafts. The “Nilus” loom is the smaller and more compact and is equiped with 10½” hed- dles.
What happened to the Nilus Jack loom?
In the 80’s Nilus Leclerc Loom Co. decided to introduce a new model Jack Loom that would have the major advantage of being able to be converted from jack to counterbalance, and back. At that time it was decided to stop production on the Nilus.
