What is damping on suspension?
Suspension damping is the process of controlling or stopping the spring’s oscillation, either when it compresses or rebounds (usually both). By forcing the fluid through different size and shape ports, shims and tunnels, the damping cartridge can control the compression and rebound speed… or stop it altogether.
How does damping adjustment work?
Damping adjustments are typically best left for fine tuning and specific chassis balance. It’s the springs that absorb bumps and control body roll, not the shocks. They do so by compressing and expanding to absorb individual wheel motion.

How do you set compression damping?
Performing Compression Damping Adjustment
- 1) Wind your compression adjuster all the way in, counting the clicks/turns as you go.
- 2) Grab the bars and a little bit of front brake and push down on the front.
- 3) Now go back all the way to the softest settings, counting the clicks/turns.
- 4) Test again on the bars.
What PSI should I run in my air bags?
