Can QTLS teach in secondary schools?
They are allowed to teach both curriculum and non-curriculum subjects across the breadth of school ages. Therefore holders of QTLS are qualified to teach in both primary and secondary schools. They will also be exempt from doing an induction year, as Newly Qualified Teachers with QTS are required to do.
Can I teach with a PGCEi?
If you have a PGCEi, you are not automatically qualified to work as a teacher in the UK. In order to be a fully-qualified teacher in the UK you will need to complete a route to Qualified Teacher Status, or QTS.

If you’re a qualified FE teacher recognised as a qualified school teacher by the Teaching Regulation Agency in England, you are not recognised as a qualified school teacher in Wales. This includes if you’re a qualified FE teacher with QTLS.
What ages can I teach with QTLS?
Holders of QTLS are able to teach across all subjects and all ages on equal pay and conditions, opening up career development and wider employment opportunities.
Is the PGCEi difficult?
The course is very well paced and can be completed relatively easily while working full time. There is, of course, a lot of research and reading involved, but this is made a lot less daunting by the great mentors, peer review, and the fact that almost everything you work on can be tied back into your classroom.

Can I teach with an AET?
The AET Qualification is not a legal requirement, but most organisations and employers only hire individuals who have this award. Therefore, if you are interested in teaching within the post-16 sector, it is highly recommend.
