How much fluid does a Boss plow take?
Remove HYD04810 Fill Cap (20F) from HYD04809 Street Elbow (20G) and fill with Boss High Performance Hydraulic Fluid. Continue to fill Street Elbow (20G) until no more fluid will be accepted. (Approx. 2 quarts.)
Can you use transmission fluid in a snow plow?
We don’t recommend ATF for use in our snowplows. ATF can hold moisture and can cause problems with the valves freezing and or frost build up on the pick-up screen of the pump. We recommend using a snowplow specific fluid like our HINIKER COLD FLOW oil which meets a military spec.
How do you fill hydraulic fluid on a plow?
Lower the blade to the ground. Manually collapse the lift piston all the way, and place a container for your used oil under the plow. Locate the fill and drain plugs on your hydraulic unit, and loosen the fill plug slowly to relieve any pressure in the reservoir. Remove the drain plug and drain the reservoir.
Where is the drain plug on a Boss plow?
The drain plug is accessible from the bottom of the hydraulic pan on the plow. Remove it and drain the fluid. When refilling add about a quart of BOSS branded hydraulic fluid.
