What is UrgoStart?

Technology Technology UrgoStart (Urgo Medical) is an interactive dressing for treating diabetic foot ulcers and leg ulcers. It consists of a layer of open-weave polyester mesh impregnated with hydrocolloid polymers within a petroleum jelly known as technology lipido- colloid (TLC).

Why use UrgoStart?

UrgoStart is indicated for diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and long-standing acute wounds.

What does UrgoStart plus do?

UrgoStart Plus is indicated for all stages (from the desloughing stage to complete healing) of exuding wounds including leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, and long standing acute wounds.

Can UrgoStart be cut?

Flexible and very conformable, UrgoStart Contact is especially suitable for lining cavity or awkwardly placed wounds and for wicking deep wounds. UrgoStart Contact can be cut using sterile equipment to fit the dressing to the wound.

How long can Urgotul stay on?

How long should I keep the dressing in place? A maximum of four weeks use is recommended due to the good efficacy of TLC-Ag on most pathogens. Dressing should be renewed every 1 to 3 days, depending on level of wound exudate.

When should you not use Inadine dressings?

It is contra-indicated in patients with severe renal impairment and in women who are pregnant or breast-feeding; it should be used with caution in patients with thyroid disease and in children under 6 months.

When should I stop using silver dressing?

It is recommended that silver dressings are used for 2 weeks in the first instance to assess effectiveness for the patient and wound. After 2 weeks, reassess the wound. If there are still signs of infection, continue and reassess every 2 weeks, documenting outcome and decision to continue.

How long can you leave Inadine on a wound?

For most applications, however, it is unlikely that the dressing will retain significant levels of antimicrobial activity if left in position for longer than two days.
