Do MMA fighters fight in a cage?
Cage fighting, or MMA, takes place inside an Octagon ring in the UFC (so named because the ring has 8 corners), or a normal boxing ring (which sometimes happens in One Championship). MMA is a combat sport which involves a fight where fighters are allowed to use multiple combined martial arts disciplines.
Why is MMA in a cage?
Its walls and padded surfaces protect fighters from falling out (or getting thrown out). The wide angles prevent fighters from getting stuck in a corner with no way out. Since boxing is fought in a square ring and wrestling in a circle, the Octagon avoids giving any one martial arts discipline the advantage.
Has anyone died UFC cage?

Use of the cage is currently regulated. Under the Unified Rules, it is illegal to hold or grasp the fence/ring ropes. Cage walking from an inferior position to reverse or stand is permitted. Pressing an opponent to the cage to work a position or technique also is permissible.
