What is 427A Freon?

What is 427A Freon?

Forane® 427A Refrigerant (R-427A) was commercialized in 2005 to supply the growing demand in Europe for an R-22 retrofit. R-427A has a similar capacity, efficiency, and mass-flow rate to R-22, making it an easy retrofit option for large, medium, and small air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Is 427A a drop in for R-22?

Forane® 427-A refrigerant is an ideal replacement for R-22 and has a much lower cost. 427A out performs other common R-22 retrofits in most applications and can be used in air conditioners, heat pumps and refrigeration applications.

Can you mix R-22 and 427A?

Can I mix Forane® 427A and R-22? Mixing refrigerants is not recommended as it creates a new refrigerant that is not EPA approved. In addition, it contaminates the R-22. Proper calculation of superheat and subcooling becomes extremely difficult, which could result in damaging the compressor.

Is Forane 22 the same as R-22?

Forane® 22 refrigerant (R-22), an HCFC, has properties providing for a broad range of applica- tions, including residential air conditioning, refrigeration, and other cooling applications.

What oil does 427A use?

Forane® 427A is compatible with polyolester (POE) lubricants. However, one advantage to Forane® 427A. of original oil in the POE lubricant, making for a simplified retrofit procedure.

What happens if you mix R134a and R22?

R-22 systems are typically about 300 psi maximum. If you add R-22 to an R-134a system, you will not get close to the rated cooling capacity of the A/C system. In conclusion, do not mix R-22 with R-134a refrigerants, you will ruin the charge, and possibly seriously damage or destroy your A/C system.

Can you use R134a in a home AC unit?

While used mostly in cars, only one home air conditioner has been made, as of November 2010, that uses R134a as a standard. As of 2010, new home air conditioners that are produced must use a refrigerant that does not deplete the ozone. R134a is a hydrofluorocarbon that does not cause environmental harm.

Can you mix rs44b with R22?

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States does not permit the mixing of different refrigerants. However, it is known from experience in Europe that the unintended mixing of RS-44b with R22 will not generate higher pressure readings, loss of efficiency or component damage.
