What is the RPAH elimination diet?
The Royal Prince Albert Hospital diet or RPAH elimination diet, also known as the FAILSAFE diet, is an elimination diet to help identify food chemical sensitivities or intolerance symptoms.
What can you eat on failsafe diet?
Foods included in a FAILSAFE diet
- Staple foods: Semolina, wholemeal and white flour, rice, rice noodles and rice bubbles.
- Meat: Beef, chicken and lamb.
- Fruit: Pears with the peel removed.
- Vegetables: Carrots, lettuce and parsley.
- Fats: Olive, sunflower and safflower oils.
- Flavour enhancers: Salt and pepper, malt vinegar.
Is butter a failsafe?
According to the RPAH allergy clinic there are a few flavours that are well tolerated by most people. These include: caramel, butterscotch, vanilla (limited), butter flavour, musk and pear flavour.
Is coffee a failsafe?
Tea and coffee are listed as high salicylates and herbal teas as very high salicylates. To sweeten any of the teas (if you need to), use sugar, rice malt syrup, brown sugar, maple syrup or golden syrup which are all failsafe ingredients.
How long does it take for elimination diet to work?
