What was Landguard Fort used for?
Throughout this period and the rest of the war, Landguard Fort acted as the command post for Harwich Haven. Rapid fire guns, complete with searchlights and dedicated fire control towers, were added to the defences whilst extensive land defences were constructed around the peninsula.
