Why a 21 inch wheel on a DR650?

The taller 21 inch front wheel on the DR650 allows for better front wheel contact pressure on the ground which increases dirt traction.

Will 130/80/17 tires fit on a DR650SE?

What tire sizes will fit the rear on a DR650SE (2001). I know that 120/90/17’s are stock but wondering if 130/80/17 has been fit before? More sharing options… 130/80-17 fit (at least TKC-80s and Maaxis 6006 for certain first hand). There are not many 120/90s available and bet most DR650s have 130/80s on them.

What size tire for the Dr?

Someone’s even done a 150 on theback of the DR, it was a street tire though and the profile after squeezed onto that narrow rim was far from correct but it fit. I’ve used 130/80’s with good results….gives slightly shorter gearing then the stock profile due to the decreased diameter going from a stock Trailwing to the 130/80 Maxxis 6006.
