I have been told that the 800 Etec will run between 4000 to 5000 without issues but that seems had to believe unless it I low RPM trail miles. In the old Ptec we would freshen the top end at 2500, what has been your experience with the Etec.

How reliable is the MXZ 600 ETEC?
Yup, it’s pure statistics. Just bought a 2015 Renegade 800, and my bother has an older MXZ 600 etec with 12k+ kms and no issues. It’s a solid engine, and there’s a reason it’s the most popular on the market! 14/15 Mileage:? Etec 600 is arguably the most reliable 2 stroke made today.
What does poor idle mean on an ETEC?
Poor idle: low system operating voltage probably the 55/60dcv side which could be stator, (blown any belts lately?) voltage reg/rec, capacitor, open/short, or many others. How many miles? You say 2011 800 etec, is this an X or freeride?
Should I get a 600 E-TEC or 800 E-TEC?
This coming from a certified Ski-doo Master Technician. 600 E-Tec, no worries. 800, better ride it like an old lady, because when pushed hard for extended periods (like I see up here, guys running the rivers with them pegged for an hour straight) they’ll fail. AND they buzz and vibrate 3 times more than the 600’s do.
