What are the different types of fitting?
There are many different kinds of fittings, made from a variety of materials: some of the most common types are elbows, tees, wyes, crosses, couplings, unions, compression fittings, caps, plugs and valves.
What does AN6 mean?
Note that AN threads are different for bolts and fittings. In bolts the number refers to the diameter of the bolt whereas in a fitting it refers to the OD of the tube and thereby have different threads. For example, AN6 bolt has a 3⁄8-24 thread whereas an -6 AN fitting has a 9⁄16-18 thread.
What is NPT fitting?
NPT (or National Pipe Taper) is a U.S. standard for tapered threads widely used on pipes and fittings for over 100 years. NPT connections rely on thread deformation- a metal to metal sealing design where the threads of the connectors themselves form together.

What is a 4 way fitting called?
Furniture grade 4 way tees are also known as side outlet tees. 4 way furniture tees allow four pipe lengths to be connected at a central support. They feature three sockets at 90° angles along the same plane and one vertical socket from which they derive the common name: side outlet tees.

ARE AN fittings 37 degree?
The majority of the hydraulic population agrees, the JIC (or SAE) 37 degree fittings are generally interchangeable with AN fittings.
Why is NPT tapered?
The taper on NPT threads allows them to form a seal when torqued as the flanks of the threads compress against each other, as opposed to parallel/straight thread fittings or compression fittings in which the threads merely hold the pieces together and do not provide the seal.

ARE AN fittings the same as JIC?
JIC fittings are dimensionally identical to AN (Army-Navy) fittings, but are produced to less exacting tolerances and are generally less costly. SAE 45-degree flare fittings are similar in appearance, but are not interchangeable, though dash sizes 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 14, and 16 share the same thread size.
