Do not swim in Chedoke Creek (or any of the waterfalls or creeks in the Chedoke or Red Hill Creek watersheds). The water is very polluted with sewage coming from above the escarpment. You can go in the water but not deep enough to swim. You can dunk yourself in the waterfall.
How do you get to the bottom of Buttermilk Falls?
To access the base of Buttermilk Falls, you can hike along Red Hill Creek beginning at the base of Albion Falls and heading downstream. The first creek on the left leads to Buttermilk Falls. You could also hike north from the Mud St. parking lot along Mountain Brow Trail until it meets the main Bruce Trail.

This is a fantastic swimming area at the base of a waterfall. The swimming area is by the parking lot, but the waterfall trail will take you at least an hour to explore, and is all uphill. With that said, it is a well maintained trail so it is easy to climb.
