Why is krytox grease so expensive?
Krytox has a giant MOQ, so it can get up there in price for people who stock it (plus distribution rights).
Is krytox harmful?
Safety. The manufacturer states on Krytox tubes, “May cause mild skin and eye irritation. Contact with very hot surfaces (above 500°F/260°C) can generate fumes which can cause coughing or respiratory irritation. Large amounts could lead to lung damage which might not be apparent for several hours.
What type of grease is krytox?
Krytox™ GPL greases are synthetic perfluoropolyether- (PFPE-) based oil, thickened with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) powder to create a white, nontoxic grease that provides excellent lubrication in demanding applications.
What is krytox 205G0 used for?
Krytox 205G0 is a grease lubricant and takes the standard, thicker grade 2 variant and thins it out to transform into the perfect consistency for keyboard enthusiast use. 205G0 is recommended for linear switches but with very light application, this lube may be used for any tactile switch.
What is Krytox grease made of?
Krytox™ oils are made from only fluorine, carbon, and oxygen—a mixture of compounds collectively known by many names—including PFPE, perfluoroalkylether (PFAE), and perfluoropolyalkylether (PFPAE) .
What is in Krytox 205g0?
The polymer chain is completely saturated and contains only carbon, oxygen, and fluorine. On a weight basis, a typical Krytox™ oil contains 21.6% carbon, 9.4% oxygen, and 69.0% fluorine. Krytox™ GPL 205 grease is PTFE thickened, contains no additives, and can be used on components that come in contact with chemicals.
What is krytox grease made of?
Does krytox grease dry?
There should be no need to reapply PFPE lubricant, even over a period of 5, or even 10 years, as they have properties that are resistant to change from oxidation or temperature. It will not dry out.
Does Krytox grease dry?
Is all krytox 205g0 the same?
Krytox GPL 205 GRADE 0 is not the same as Krytox 205 found on Amazon or the like. 205g0 is specially formulated with a binder to keep the mixture from separating. It is a bit more fluid than the 205 found on mainstream retailers.
What’s the difference between krytox 205g0 and 205g2?
Just so everyone knows, this is Krytox 205g2, not 205g0. This is still an excellent lube for mechanical keyboard switches, the only difference is that this is significantly thicker than grade 0, so you need to use even less lube.
Can you mix dielectric grease and Krytox?
While Krytox™ grease will not react with the other greases or cause decomposition or any hazardous reactions, it will not stop the other lubricant from breaking down from heat and oxidation. Therefore, it is not recommended to mix Krytox™ lubricants with any non-perfluoropolyether (PFPE) oil or grease.
