Can you tint a football visor?
In 1998, the NFL league banned using tinted football visors in games. Unless a player was cleared for medical reasons, like to reduce migraines from the sun or lights, players could not use tinted visors. Entering the 2019 NFL season, the National Football League now allows some tinted visors for players to use.
Why are tinted visors illegal in football?
The reasoning behind now allowing a dark tinted visor is mainly for concussions and injury reasons. For unconscious players, the training staff will need to see through the tint of the visor. Medical staff had a tough time looking through the visor, never mind looking under the visor.
Why can’t you wear a tinted visor in high school football?
The rule is basically the same across all leagues (MS, HS, NCAA, NFL, CFL)- it states that visors are only allowed in game play if they are 100% clear unless you have a medical excuse that requires you to have tint to protect your eyes. There might be a catch though.

Yes, it is legal to tint a motorcycle helmet visor and is a very simple process to do with very few tools. However, a plain clear plastic visor will not block out any sunlight. While helmet manufacturers offer some options to buy a shaded visor, they can be a bit pricey depending on the helmet.

Why can DK Metcalf wear a tinted visor?
DK is one of the few players in the NFL to rock a tinted visor (mostly because it’s illegal unless you have a “doctor’s note”). Oakley visors are great for blocking the sun and protecting your eyes from defenders and the “bubble” shape ensures their will be no distortion for your vision.
