Ectoplasm is not a reagent that grows in the Spiral, but it does get dropped by creatures. In Wizard City, they’re dropped by many of the ghost-like creatures (Foulgaze, Haunted Minion). One farming suggestion would be to go to Nightside (where to Death School is) and defeat the minions in the first area of Sunken City.
