What are the risks of varicose vein ablation?

Is EVLT procedure painful?
Pain: Patients may experience mild to moderate pain following the procedure. The leg may be tender to the touch after treatment; it is normal to experience some tenderness or bruising in the areas where local anesthesia was administered. This pain is usually well controlled by Ibuprofen or Tylenol.
How much does EVLT cost?
Costs for EVLT range from $600 to $3,000, depending on how much of the vein needs to be treated. Insurance may pick up part of the tab, however, if the varicose veins are painful or debilitating.
What happens after radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins?
Most patients recover from Radiofrequency Ablation and Foam Sclerotherapy without any problems. It is normal to feel a tightening sensation in your leg after a couple of days, which may last for a few days. It is also common to experience cramping, bruising and swelling. You should take your painkillers as prescribed.

Can I wear knee high compression socks after vein ablation?
Because of the risk of foot swelling with higher compression grades, these stockings are usually only available in 15-20mm Hg or less compression. This makes them ideal after cosmetic spider vein treatment but not for post procedure use after endovenous ablation or phlebectomy.
