How do I know if my pulse ox is working?
Put the probe on your own finger and check it is working! Oximeters need a flow of blood through the finger to function. Some oximeters give an indication of the blood flow detected. In this oximeter there is a scale which is an indication of the blood flow.
When should I be worried about a pulse ox?
Call your doctor if: Your blood oxygen level (SpO2) drops below 95%. This is true even if the number only drops when you’re active.
What is pulse ox mode?
Pulse oximetry (or Pulse Ox, for short) is a noninvasive method used to measure the saturation of oxygen in the bloodstream. Compatible devices use a combination of red and infrared lights with sensors on the back of the device which can determine the percentage of oxygenated blood (SpO2%) available in your blood.

How can I check my oxygen level without a oximeter?
Keep your palm on your chest, measure your respiratory rate for 1 minute. If the respiratory rate is less than 24 per minute, your oxygen level is safe. If a patient has more than 30 breaths per minute, the oxygen level is low.
Is a pulse ox of 94 bad?
A normal level of oxygen is usually 95% or higher. Some people with chronic lung disease or sleep apnea can have normal levels around 90%.
