Are M Audio bx5 good?
Great build quality, awesome audio quality, loud and tight bass…. very clear and flat response, not bassy at all. Not perfect on midrange frequencies but very good enough. I have no doubts that these are the best active monitors in the $150-250 range in the hole world.

Magnetic shielding is becoming less of an issue as flat-screen monitors become cheaper, but it’s still a welcome inclusion.
How powerful are the bx5s?
The BX5s are more than powerful enough for nearfield monitoring applications, and the mid-range and high end seem reasonably detailed and well controlled for a monitor in this price bracket.
What is the difference between the BX5 carbon and the D3?
Again, in comparison with the BX5 Carbon, the D3 sound has a smoother top end performance. The D3s can still be sharp, and there is no HF fix, more is the pity. But we didn’t find them too tiring, though, and the waveguide really does expand the sweet spot nicely.
