Product manufacturing update: We recently made a few small changes to our Uncle Tobys Vita Brits recipe and packaging. Rest assured our biscuits are still made using 100% Australian whole grain wheat with a dash of salt and absolutely no added sugar.

Vita Brits has been made at Wahgunyah since 1989 when Uncle Toby’s bought the brand from Nabisco and transferred production from that firm’s plant in Broadmeadows, Melbourne.

Are Vita Brits healthy?
1. Uncle Tobys Vita Brits. These beauties contain a whopping 12.6g of fibre and only 0.4g/of sugar per 100g! Children, in particular, need to eat a healthy breakfast and this cereal gets our tick of approval!
Are Vita Brits healthier than Weet-Bix?
Unlike Weet-Bix, Vita Brits (and Weeties) don’t have any added sugar. They do however have a little more added sodium, 395mg per 100g. It’s a little above the target I like to see in packaged foods (350mg) but not by much.
What happened Vita Brits?
The recent change to Vita Brits has made them smaller, airy and near tasteless, much more like Weet Bix. The bag is also no longer sealed allowing them to go stale quicker. The reason I chose to eat Vita Brits for the last 50 years is no longer there.

How are Uncle Tobys oats made?
After eight to nine months of growing, Uncle Tobys oats are naturally dried on the stem before harvesting. Producing Uncle Tobys quality oats takes time. From late February into March and April, the paddocks are prepared for sowing, which means ploughing, controlling weeds and preparing the soil.
Are Vita Brits fortified?
As with the Vita Brits though, this amount is too high for babies and small children. This cereal is also fortified, this time with niacin, riboflavin, vitamin B6, thiamin, folate plus iron and zinc.
