Is the Toronto reference library open during lockdown?

How does the reference library work?
Reference librarians recommend, interpret, evaluate, and/or use information resources to help patrons with specific information needs. Requests for assistance often occur in person at the library, reference is increasingly conducted by phone, chat and email.
How do I check out a book at the library online?
Eligible library books are available in the United States through a digital service called OverDrive. Confirm whether your library branch participates and offers Kindle books. Get a library card and a PIN from your local library. Go to the website of your local public library and search for “Kindle books” or “eBooks.”
Can you eat in Toronto Reference Library?
Eating and drinking are allowed except in designated areas. Service animals are welcome in the Library. Other animals are only allowed during authorized programs.
Can I still borrow books from the library?
Can I still borrow books? Yes! Libraries allow patrons to borrow e-books or audiobooks through online systems or applications you can download to your smartphone. Visit your local library’s website for more information.

The Online Catalog is available on the Internet at http://catalog.loc.gov/. As an integrated database, the Online Catalog includes 3.2 million catalog records from an earlier database.
Can you check out reference books?
Most reference books cannot be checked out and usually you are only going to be interested in a few pages which can be copied or scanned with your phone. If the call number begins with REF, the book must be used in the library.
