Getting there: Thorney Island is easily accessed by rail (Emsworth Station) where a short walk takes you to the start of the walk. By road there are plenty of public carparks in Emsworth, or for starting at The Deck café, leave Emsworth on the A27, go over the bridge and take the first right after the Sussex Brewery.

Where is thorney?
Thorney Island was the eyot (or small island) on the Thames, upstream of medieval London, where Westminster Abbey and the Palace of Westminster (commonly known today as the Houses of Parliament) were built. It was formed by rivulets of the River Tyburn, which entered the Thames nearby.
