Do you get paid for UROP?
The minimum hourly rate for UROP in AY2021-22 will be $14.25/hour. If requesting direct funding, you may request up to a total of: $1,995 (140 total hours) in fall and spring, and $6,840 (480 total hours) for the summer. Any approved materials and services amounts are listed within your approved paid UROP application.

The Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) offers the opportunity for first and second year students to have an undergraduate research opportunity. Approximately 1100 students and over 700 faculty researchers from across the University of Michigan community are engaged in UROP research partnerships.

Our assessment and evaluation efforts suggest a positive benefit of UROP participation on student’s retention and academic achievement, pursuit of post-graduate education, post-graduate research activity, behavioral orientation (active participation in their educational experiences), and development as researchers.
How do you write a proposal for Urop?
The proposal must include ONLY the following sections:
- Statement of the problem or topic of the research or creative work.
- Relevant background/literature review.
- Specific activities to be undertaken and a timeline allotted for each activity.
- Relationship of the proposed work to the expertise of the faculty mentor.
How many credits is Urop Umich?
UROP Compensation Students can earn 2-4 academic credits per term. Work-study students who have applied and accepted their Financial Aid work-study package will receive 1 academic credit per term and hourly compensation. Federal work-study is a financial aid program for students who have financial need.
Is Urop a work experience?
A UROP research experience is not paid employment. A registered UROP research experience ensures that participants from within and outside Imperial College are hosted appropriately.
Can I drop Urop?
You must add (register) UROP credit as you would a class, no later than the Drop Date for the given semester. If you decide to cancel (drop) your Credit UROP, remember to Drop it from your registration no later than Drop Date and to cancel your UROP application in the online system or send email to [email protected].
