What is ATP 3M?
3M™ Clean-Trace™ Surface ATP UXL100 is a single-use test device that contains a swab for the collection of a sample from a surface. The swab is pre-moistened to aid in sample collection and processing. Upon activation of the test, the chemical reacts with the sample collected on the swab to produce light.
How does 3M Clean Trace work?
The 3M Clean-Trace Tests use Luciferin/Luciferase enzyme to produce light that is proportional to the amount of ATP present. The 3M Clean-Trace Luminometer measures the intensity of the light emitted from a sample, and it displays the test result in Relative Light Units (RLU).
How does an ATP meter work?
ATP on the surface can be collected using the 3M™ Clean-Trace™ Surface ATP Test Swab. Once the swab is activated, the ATP will then react with an enzyme and produce light. The 3M™ Clean Trace™ Luminometer will measure the light generated and report it as relative light units or RLUs.
Do ATP swabs need to be refrigerated?
ATP test devices have a 15 month shelf life at refrigerated temperatures (2-8° C) and 4 week shelf life at room temperature (21-25° C). All swab labels are printed with expiration month and year for your convenience.

How do you test if something has bacteria on it?
During a bacteria culture test, a sample will be taken from your blood, urine, skin, or other part of your body. The type of sample depends on the location of the suspected infection. The cells in your sample will be taken to a lab and put in a special environment in a lab to encourage cell growth.
How do you know if something is clean?
The most common way to decide if a surface is clean is to simply look at it, and if the surface looks clean, then it is clean. The problem with this is that bacteria and viruses that can make us sick are invisible to the naked eye.
How accurate is ATP testing?
How reliable are ATP tests? When used correctly, ATP tests can be an accurate representation of cleanliness. However, ATP tests are not able to test for the following: Viruses.
What is ATP in 3m clean trace?
3M Clean-Trace Surface ATP tests are used to determine whether a surface has been cleaned effectively. Any food residue or microbial cells that remain on the surface willcontain ATP and will react with the reagents contained in the test (luciferin and luciferase enzyme) to produceHow light.
How do you test for ATP on the surface?
ATP on the surface can be collected using the 3M™ Clean-Trace™ Surface ATP Test Swab. Once the swab is activated, the ATP will then react with an enzyme and produce light. The 3M™ Clean Trace™ Luminometer will measure the light generated and report it as relative light units or RLUs.
Can ATP swabs be used in between cleaning and sanitation?
3M swabs were designed to be versatile and we understand that not all facilities can conduct ATP swabbing in between cleaning and sanitizing. There is flexibility on when to swab depending on how your cleaning and sanitation programs are established.
How do I use swab?
Swab a representative area of the surface to be tested. Typically, 10×10 cm on a flat surface. Swab horizontally from one side to the other, continue to swab across the whole surface and repeat the procedure vertically from top to bottom.
