How does a framo pump work?
The cargo pump has a built-in hydraulic motor connected to the impeller by a short independent shaft. Motor, shaft and bearings are lubricated and cooled by the hydraulic driving oil. The pump impeller rotates and acts as a non-return valve to prevent cargo from returning back to tank.
Why vacuum drain is there in Framo pumps?
The vacuum drain line is equipped with a nozzle. The nozzle mixes the remaining liquid in the drain line with the internal tank atmosphere. This will reduce the weight of the liquid column. Consequently, the remaining liquid column can be emptied by means of a “vacuum” system on deck.
Where are the cargo pump located in an oil tanker?
Cargo oil pumps are installed in the pump room, which is usually located in the stern of the vessel, between the tanks and the engine room. The pumps are installed as low as possible. At the beginning of the pumping process the inlet head is relatively large.
What is a framo pump?
The Framo cargo pump is a vertical single-stage centrifugal pump powered by a hydraulic motor for safe and efficient operation. All of our cargo pumps are made in stainless steel and designed with a smooth and easy-to-clean surface featuring a limited number of flanges for a superior ability to pump any liquid.
How are bearings of Framo pump lubricated?
The Framo cargo pump is a vertical single-stage centrifugal pump powered by a hydraulic motor for safe and efficient operation. Motor, shaft and bearings are lubricated and cooled by the hydraulic driving oil.
When tank cleaning is done run the Framo pump at?
6.2 Before tank cleaning is finished, close pump s cargo discharge valve and open stripping valve to allow an increase in water level. Run the pump at approximately 110 bar against closed cargo pump discharge valve for 1-2 minutes to clean the cargo pump.
Are Framo pumps centrifugal?
What is framo pump?
What are the two types of cargo pumps?
Axial flow pumps. Submersible pump. Centrifugal-axial (mixed) pump.
Why choose a Framo pump?
For over half a century, our world-leading pump technology has revolutionized marine cargo pumping. Framo has supplied cargo pumping systems to the majority of chemical and product tankers worldwide, and are recognized as a standard in the marine industry.
How to replace the Framo cargo seal set?
Remove seal ring housing. If necessary dismantle support ring and double/ single lip seal. Single and double lip seal is called Framo seal set. Check and clean ceramic sleeve. Change Framo cargo seal set if necessary. Fig. 6 Fig. 7
When should I change the wear rings on my Framo pump?
These tests are normally carried out and analysed by a Framo service engineer either at a predocking inspection or special attendance for this activity. Worn wear rings will increase the discharge time. It is therefore recommended to change wear rings if the pump is overhauled for other reasons.
How does the Framo system work on tankers?
For anyone working on tankers, this makes the thorough knowledge of the Framo system a necessity. The portable pump is controlled locally at the pump via the control valve. Rajeev Jassal Sep 18, The feeders and DC power supplies are monitored by relays provided with status lamps.
