Can you still buy a PPSh?
Luckily, like previous battle pass weapons, the PPSh-41 will be available on the free and paid rewards path. Meaning, even if you don’t own the battle pass, but still get enough experience to hit Tier 15, you will still unlock this weapon.
Why does the PPSh fire so fast?
Later models of the PPSh came with a 35-round stick magazine. Soon, the Soviets were originating new tactics based on the weapon’s capabilities. Soldiers stormed German positions in mass infantry attacks, PPShs blazing as they surged forward.

My experience has been that, with good (not overloaded) drum magazines or stick magazines, the PPSh-41 is very reliable. Original drum magazines were, I believe, serial-numbered to the gun, and those worked most reliably.
