How wide should my raft frame be?
Most 16′ rafts take a 72” frame, and that should work fine on your boat. Extra side board room, and will fit pretty much any 16′ raft, whether you replace your boat, or sell your frame someday. I have a 14’er, with 66” from center of tube, to center of tube, and I run a 72” frame, and it works great. All of this.
How do I choose a raft?
The wider the boat, the more stable it will be in whitewater. A narrower boat can fit through tighter rocky stretches. The distance between the side tubes of a raft or cataraft (dictated by the frame) determines the size of cooler or drybox that will fit inside. A wider raft doesn’t necessarily have more interior room.

How many white water rafts do I need?
Whitewater Rafting Rafts typically hold 5-7 people in each boat, sometimes less, sometimes more. Typically if you have a group of 5 or more, it will be just your group in the raft.
How do self bailing rafts work?
Self-bailing rafts, as their name implies, bail the water out automatically. This is accomplished by having an inflatable bottom of around 4-5” thick. Draining holes are located along the top of the floor where the floor attaches to the boat’s perimeter – this floor is known as a self-bailing floor.
