Visitor Relations offers livestream and limited in-person campus tours, led by undergraduate students, that are open to all prospective students and families, faculty, staff, alumni and Ithaca area explorers. Registration is required for in-person campus tours and information sessions.
Can you walk around Cornell campus?
Current Cornell visitor guidelines prohibit campus visitors from entering any campus facility, but there are no rules prohibiting them from walking around the campus, as long as they remain outside and follow masking and distancing guidelines.

Why is Cornell Big Red?
The nickname “Big Red” for Cornell teams originated in 1905. The late Romeyn Berry ’04, then a recent Cornell graduate, was writing the lyrics for a new football song. Since Cornell had no nickname at the time, Berry simply referred to Cornell as the “big red team” and it caught on.
