Why do they call it Inks Lake?
Inks Lake was named for Roy B. Inks, one of the original board members of the Lower Colorado River Authority, and serves as a venue for outdoor recreation, including fishing, boating, swimming, camping, and picnicking.
Where can you swim in Inks Lake?
Devil’s Waterhole
Perhaps the most well-known place to take a dip — or a leap — is at Devil’s Waterhole. Located at Inks Lake State Park, this deep blue sinkhole is the park’s central attraction. Devil’s Waterhole offers cliff jumping, serene pools for swimming, and waterfalls for exploring.
Is Buchanan Dam open?

Are boats allowed on Inks Lake?
Public access to Inks Lake is available through Inks Lake State Park which borders approximately one-third of the eastern shoreline. A two-lane boat ramp is available at the park along with a lighted fishing pier and plenty of shoreline access.
Can you swim in Lake Buchanan?
Lake Buchanan is very popular with boaters, campers, fishermen, and swimmers. There are granite gravel shores along portions of the lake that provide an ideal beach for swimming, wading and sunbathing. The Lake Buchanan picture above is of a privately owned lighthouse that is near Buchanan Dam.
Is Lake Buchanan closed?
As for the Highland Lakes in Central Texas, a spokesperson for the LCRA said all six (lakes Buchanan, Inks, LBJ, Marble Falls, Travis and Austin) remain open. According to Burnet County, the lakes that fall within Burnet County are also open, but authorities continue to strongly encourage social distancing.

Inks Lake is noted for its picturesque scenery, but fishing can be good as well. It contains under-rated largemouth bass and Guadalupe bass populations, along with several species of sunfish (bream). White bass are regularly caught in the reservoir, and a low density white crappie population is present.
