Is Maxalt safe to take?
Contraindications. While Maxalt is typically considered safe and effective, is not safe if you are pregnant or have certain health conditions. As such, your doctor will ask you questions about your medical history before prescribing Maxalt for your migraines.
Who should not take Maxalt?
You should not use Maxalt if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart problems, a history of heart attack or stroke, or circulation problems that cause a lack of blood supply within the body. Maxalt should not be taken within 24 hours before or after using certain migraine headache medicines.
Is it safe to take Maxalt every day?
Maxalt and Maxalt-MLT are medications that you take only as needed to treat a migraine episode. So, you can’t “miss” a dose of the drugs. In fact, you shouldn’t take Maxalt or Maxalt-MLT every day. These drugs aren’t approved to prevent migraine episodes.
Does Maxalt make headaches worse?
Using rizatriptan alone or in combination with other migraine medicines for 10 or more days per month may lead to worsening of headache. You may keep a headache diary to record the headache frequency and drug use. Make sure your doctor knows about all the other medicines you are using.
