With regards to switching side, I would recommend people to just stick with their legacy method of jurisprudence be it Shafii, Hanafi or the other two, and deepen their understanding in it. All these must be done while respecting other schools. I find it easier that way, than having to dump all that I have learned in order to learn something new.
