When did Pdhpe syllabus change?
2010
The PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus has been amended to update and, in parts, reduce the content. The amended syllabus is to be implemented from 2010 for both the HSC and Preliminary courses. The first HSC examination based on the amended PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus will be in 2010.
What is new and different about the Pdhpe K-10 syllabus?
The new syllabus is written around different strands, 5 propositions, new skills and skill domains and new content structure. This requires new ways of thinking and delivering units of work built around evidence based big ideas and concepts.
What subject is Pdhpe?
PDHPE (Personal Development, Health and Physical Education) is a subject in the New South Wales school curriculum. It is a compulsory subject in the K-10 curriculum, and available as an elective in years 11 and 12 and for the HSC in year 12.

A decision to allow a student to access the PDHPE Years 7–10 Life Skills outcomes and content should include parents/carers and be based on careful consideration of the student’s competencies and learning needs.
Do schools have to teach PDHPE in every year?
Yes. As a guide, primary schools should spend 6–10% of teaching time, approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours in a typical school week teaching PDHPE. Secondary schools are required to deliver 300 hours of PDHPE across Years 7 to 10. PDHPE should be delivered in each year.
