The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was signed into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
How do you qualify for Michigan Works?
Applicants must demonstrate a financial need. Training must be in a high demand industry or occupation and listed on Michigan Training Connect. Applicants must verify class schedule, educational plan, and/or acceptance into approved training program.

What is a Michigan Works Agency?
The local Michigan Works! Agencies (MWAs) operate adult programs on a year-round basis. The funds allocated to the MWAs for the adult program must be used to support core, intensive, and training services.
