What is a dysphagia cup?
Dysphagia cups are adaptive drinking cups specially designed for people who have difficulty swallowing safely. Dysphagia can be caused by different anatomical problems such as blockages or obstructions, and/or nerves of the brain, throat or esophagus malfunctioning.
Can Provale cup be used with thickened liquids?

Can adults use sippy cups?
Sippy cups don’t factor into most people’s drinking routine past age 4. Thankfully, you can still drink out of sippy cups as an adult without being judged too hard—you just have to invest in a grownup version (preferably one that doesn’t include a recommendation for “ages 1 to 3”).
Do thickened liquids prevent aspiration?
The rapid rate may be too fast for the patient’s pharyngeal muscles to compensate, thus allowing aspiration. Thickening the liquids is meant to slow the flow of liquids to allow more time for airway closure, which could potentially reduce the risk of aspiration.

Acid reflux disease is the most common cause of dysphagia. People with acid reflux may have problems in the esophagus, such as an ulcer, a stricture (narrowing of the esophagus), or less likely a cancer causing difficulty swallowing.
Can someone with dysphagia eat bread?
