Kontakt can run as a standalone application but is used most often as an audio instrument (or plug-in) inside a digital audio workstation (DAW, sequencer).
Does KONTAKT 5 come with libraries?
The Kontakt ‘Player’ doesn’t come with the Kontakt Factory Library. There is a different (smaller) set of instruments for the ‘player’ that you need to download.
How do I switch between instruments in Kontakt?
On the instrument header there is a menu that says “MIDI Ch: [A]” and whatever number in the order in which you added your instruments. Change it to MIDI channel 1 or you can route separate MIDI tracks into Kontakt to play each instrument separately.
