1time was born out of a unique opportunity to launch South Africa’s first genuine low-fare airline. At that time, it appeared on the surface as if there were already an airline operating in this market but, in order to qualify as an authentic and sustainable low-fare airline, a company should be set up from scratch as a low-fare model.
What happened to 1Time Airlines?
The airline’s catchy name was derived from a truly South African expression, and it was sorely missed in the low cost carrier market; ticket prices rocketed shortly after 1Time’s demise.
What is the 1-time business strategy?
The focus of the 1time business strategy is to provide flights only on those routes which are financially profitable. The name of the airline is a South African slang expression, which is acceptable as the name of the airline but may be seen as inappropriate in more general conversation (especially if you are not speaking to a surfer!).
