What is a DC sweep?
DC Sweep Analysis is used to calculate a circuits’ bias point over a range of values. This procedure allows you to simulate a circuit many times, sweeping the DC values within a predetermined range. You can control the source values by choosing the start and stop values and the increment for the DC range.
How is DC analysis done in PSpice?
PSPICE has a feature which allows you to automatically change a part value within a specified range and to simulate and graph the results. This is called DC sweep. For instance, resistor values, currents, or voltages can be swept. This can be done by injecting a current and recording the voltage for each current value.
How do you do a DC sweep?
Set up and run the sweep:
- Build the above circuit.
- Tap. , expand Simulation settings and select DC sweep.
- Enter a Start value of 0 V, a Stop value of 10 V, and an Increment of 1 V. Notice that Points are set to 11.
- Tap Start simulation. The grapher opens with the following results:
What is parametric sweep?
A parametric sweep allows for a parameter to be swept through a range of values and can be performed when running a transient, AC or DC sweep analysis. Parameters that can be varied include a voltage or current source, temperature, a global parameter, or a model parameter.
What is DC operating point?
A DC operating point, also known as quiescent or Q point, refers to the state of the transistor when no input current is applied to the component. Plotted on a chart, the DC operating point is the intersection of the base current and the DC load line.
What is DC analysis?
DC Analysis calculates the DC operating points of circuits. You can use DC simulation to generate data on plots, for example, the IV curves of a transistor and annotating DC values on a schematic. It is also the first simulation step when performing other simulations such as linear, harmonic balance, or transient.
What is voltage sweep?
[′swēp ‚vōl·tij] (electronics) Periodically varying voltage applied to the deflection plates of a cathode-ray tube to give a beam displacement that is a function of time, frequency, or other data base.
What is AC sweep in PSpice?
What Does AC Sweep Analysis Do? For an AC sweep analysis, PSpice A/D calculates the small-signal response of the circuit (linearized around the bias point) when sweeping one or more sources over a range of frequencies. AC Sweep is a linear small signal analysis. It does not simulate nonlinear effects like clipping.
