What is GPR Aegd?
These programs come in two forms: the General Practice Residency (GPR) and the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program. They are designed to give dentists a greater depth of experience in general dentistry, and often give a competitive edge in the job market or when applying for a specialist residency.
How long is dental residency in Canada?

Dental residencies are available annually for a period of one calendar year starting in June. Successful applicants will be registered as postgraduate students in the Faculty of Dentistry for the length of their appointment.

Do you have to pay for Aegd?
The AEGD program is a one-year accredited postgraduate residency in general dentistry with an optional second year. There is no tuition to participate in the program; residents receive an educational stipend.

The sites for our AEGD residency program include UCSF School of Dentistry, Eureka, Pittsburg and East Palo Alto. Do the residents receive any stipend during the program? Canadian and U.S. dental school graduates receive $40,000/year annual gross salary for first-year residents.

How much do dental residents make Canada?
In Western Canada, the salary can be as high as $50K, whereas in Quebec the salaries are much lower (in the $15K range). Other programs in other provinces pay residents approximately $30K.
