What is the KDSS lean?
What causes KDSS lean? KDSS lean is the most common issue to occur if you lift your 4Runner too high. The electronics and hydraulics don’t like too much lift and the system will cause the 4Runner to lean to the driver side. The only solution we have found is simply not to lift them too high.
Is KDSS worth it 200 series?
KDSS is a fantastic ‘factory only’ option for the 200. It is basically a sway bar that automatically disconnects off road. On road it is a heavier duty sway bar and gives you a flatter ride than non KDSS. Significanlty better handling around corners.
How do you fix KDS lean?
IMPORTANT
- Step 1: Preparation. Measure the distance from the bottom of the wheel to the bottom of the guard on each side of the vehicle.
- Step 2: Drive up on the wood. Park the vehicle on a hard, level surface.
- Step 3: Tighten the KDSS shutter valves.
- Step 4: Drive back off the wood and check results.
Is KDSS good for off roading?
A KDSS is good for off-roading and will perform the way it was designed to. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System is designed to react dynamically to forces being applied across the suspension. The KDSS suppresses the suspension stroke which improves the feel of stability.
What year is the best 200 series LandCruiser?
Depending on your budget, if you want a reliable classic but reliable Land Cruiser, go for the 1995-1997 model year. However, for more high-tech features and extreme comfort, consider those Land Cruisers manufactured around 2000 through to 2004 (200-Series).
Is KDSS worth the money?
Definitely, pro KDSS! I wouldn’t own a 4 Runner without it. They say it gives better articulation off road, which I’ve never noticed, but highway driving on winding roads, big interstates, high speeds, it really improves the handling of a 4 Runner noticeably.
Does Landcruiser 200 VX have KDSS?
KDSS is standard on all LC200s except the diesel GXL, where it’s a $2500 option. All the diesel GXLs we’ve driven so far have had this option, so we are yet to be able to compare vehicles with and without KDSS.
What is KDSS on Landcruiser?
The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) technology was employed initially in the Lexus GX 470, and subsequently the 200 Series Toyota Land Cruiser. KDSS, which is fully mechanical, can disengage the stabilizer bars (the bars are jointed, allowing movement independent of one another).
Is KDSS good or bad?
Yes. KDSS functions fine with the mild lift you’re talking about and 95% of the benefit is on the road (less roll/dive and flatter cornering).
Does KDSS make a difference?
There is a very noticeable difference between handling with and without KDSS. KDSS vehicles are much tighter on road and have very little roll compared to 4Runners without it.
Do you have KDSS on Your Land Cruiser?
I have the petrol model and it came standard with KDSS. First up, I am self employed in hydraulic repairs so I have some experience and I’m happy to share what I’ve found. KDSS for the Land Cruiser was designed by a guy over in Western Australia. In a nut shell it’s awesome and I’d highly recommend the system.
Can you reset the ECU to correct a KDSS lean?
There is absolutely no connection or control between any part of the KDSS system and any sensor or electronic system on the vehicle. Therefore, there is nothing to be gained by ‘resetting’ the ECU or making any changes to it, in order to correct a KDSS lean.
How can I fix the lean on my KDSS valves?
Cheers! The lean is now corrected after swapping rear springs side-to-side. Drove around the block with the KDSS valves 3 turns open then found a flat location to re-tighten the valves. Now the lean is within 2mm. Also took this opportunity to install the Tough Dog panhard bar and corrected the rear axle shift.
