Can you swim in Pohick Bay?
In addition to water activities the park also offers family and group camping, hiking, picnic areas and a large play area for children. For those of you interested in swimming, we offer one of the largest, outdoor freeform pools on the east coast!
Are dogs allowed at Pohick park?
Dogs are allowed throughout the park and the campground for no additional fee. Dogs may not be left unattended in the campground, and they must be under their owner’s control, leashed, and cleaned up after at all times.
Can you take dogs to Gravelly Point?
It can get noisy. You need to access the park from the northbound direction on the George Washington Parkway. Dogs must be leashed in this park.
Can you swim in Burke Lake?
One of the only summer activities you can’t do around Burke Lake is swim. If the weather is hot, plan to visit in the morning before it gets too steamy. Better yet, rent a campsite and you can enjoy sunrise or sunset over the lake. Burke Lake is at 7315 Ox Road in Fairfax Station Virginia.
How often do planes fly over gravelly point?
They fly over every day. They will take off into the wind so depending on which direction the wind is blowing that will dictate if they are landing or taking off over Gravelley Point.
What is the Pohick Bay Regional Park?
Pohick Bay Regional Park is a multi-use recreational park that offers wildlife viewing opportunities in addition to picnic areas, a campground, disc golf course, mini golf course, boat rental facility and a golf course. Five miles of trails wind through the forest that blankets this 1,000-acre complex.

Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP) is our family’s new hobbie and were happy to learn you can rent SUPs very inexpensive ($8/hr) at Pohick Lake. Being Labor Day weekend we knew it might be crowded, but decided to go anyway.
What can you do in Pohick-Accotink National Park?
Visitors can view the protected Pohick-Accotink estuary from trails and the boat ramp. The park also offers guided canoe, kayak and stand-up paddle boarding tours. Volunteers maintain eastern bluebird nest box trails, offering spectacular views of these stunning birds.
