Are gold foil pickups single coil?
While gold foil pickups operate on the same electromagnetic principles as your typical single-coil, they often do so with a largely different configuration. Though most are single-coil, some are double-coil, and that’s just the tip of the dissimilarity iceberg.
Can you split Filtertrons?
In talking with Tom (TV Jones), the Classic (normal filtertron) does not split well due to its lower output. Not even certain he would make one that could split. He did say a Classic+ (hotter Classic for bridge only) can be split.
When was the Filtertron invented?

Can I put a TV classic Filtertron in my Eastman T185?
Between a universal mount TV’tron and a TV HB mounting ring, was able to put my “gretsch sized” TV Classic filtertron directly in my Eastman T185 and replace the SD 59s. “Huge improvement!” I have a Gibson Firebird Special with P90’s and like all modern Gibson’s I have played lately the pickups were horrible.
What is the difference between Filter-tron and filterhouse?
But rather than emphasise the growly and chimey aspects of the Filter’Tron sound, the Filterhouse set focuses on the mellower and woodier end of the spectrum. Their output levels are also the lowest in the group. The upside is that the response is smooth and refined, and the tone has more of that vintage Filter’Tron body.
What is the difference between the Classic Plus and bridge pickups?
The bridge pickup easily overdrives an amp but without the edge and grit of the High Sensitives. The neck sounds wide open and clear, with fabulous bass depth and no wooliness. Switching over to the Classic Plus in the bridge delivers a tone that’s louder and more compressed but equally bright and clear.
