Yes, they are well worth the money. The S7 Equipe shorts are fantastic and I think they are a deal at the level they’re sold at.
Is Assos better than Castelli?
The Castelli X2 is a great everyday pad; really well done and high tech. The Assos is a thicker, less tapered pad; great for longer rides. I have more of the Castelli, because I can get them on deep discount ($100-$125) at times. The Assos comes out for long rides, fondos, etc.

Why are Assos so expensive?
Textile Testing. 20% of every bolt of fabric is tested and quality controlled before it goes to the pattern cutters in Italy and finally to an exclusive factory in Bulgaria for stitching. Laborious, time consuming and expensive but it allows ASSOS to have total quality control at every stage.
