Why did Ebola start?
The first human case in an Ebola outbreak is acquired through contact with blood, secretions organs or other bodily fluids of an infected animal. EVD has been documented in people who handled infected chimpanzees, gorillas, and forest antelopes, both dead and alive, in Cote d’Ivoire, the Republic of Congo and Gabon.
What was the survival rate of Ebola?
The mortality rate was around 90 percent. Although medical facilities have improved over the years, case fatality rates have varied from 25% to 90% in past outbreaks.
How painful is Ebola?
Symptoms: It can take anywhere from two to 21 days after infection for symptoms to kick in, but once they do, the pain is excruciating. It starts off with a fever, muscle pains, vomiting and diarrhea. It also makes the victims so weak that it leaves them bedridden.
