What is an original print?
At it’s simplest, we define an original print as an artwork that has been manually printed by the artist (or with some processes, printed under the artist’s direct supervision). It is not a reproduction. The artist will have created an image on block, stone, plate or screen from which the final print is produced.
How are original prints made?
An image is drawn on the stone with a greasy substance that attracts ink. The design is then transferred to paper lightly using a printing press. It creates an effect where the ink lies entirely on the surface of the paper and is neither raised nor embossed.
What is an original digital print?
It is a copy of something already in existence. A digital print is an original; It was created on the computer and reflects the moment in time when it was created through the printing process.
