Can iBook be upgraded?
OWC sells a large number of hard drives compatible with the iBook and also offers installation service. The optical drive in each iBook model can be upgraded, but Apple does not provide any instructions or support for doing so.
Can you still use iBook G3?

Does iMac G3 still work?
Also, since this is a G3 with 10.4. 11, Classic environment is still available, so you might get some use out of older MacOS 9 programs… A DLSD G4 PowerBook or a G5 would still even have reasonable performance in 2018, but a G3 will still work just fine.
Can you use iMac G3 as monitor?
It uses the open-source VNC (screen sharing) protocol to serve that second display over the local network. You then run a VNC client program (usually free) on the iMac G3 and display the MacBooks virtual second screen in a window, which you can display full screen.
